SAP Projects

Attending SAP Projects 2012 in Las Vegas.  Started out today with the Jump Start day (Sunday:).

SAP Projects 2012

Attended 2 3 hour long sessions today, all filled with great information on:

  • SAP Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)
  • SAP Mobility and BI.

Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)

For EPM, was glad to finally have learned a great deal about SAP Disclosure Management and the SAP disclosure management roadmap, a new product, until recently in Ramp Up, that allows companies in the US to file SEC compliant XBRL based (and HTML in the case of EDGAR) legally mandated disclosure statements.  This is a hugely important capability.  In fact, you can read here how XBRL could have potentially prevented the financial crisis.

SAP Mobility Solutions

On the mobility front, it appears the device winners are sorting themselves out, iOS or Android, and that the SAP Mobility solution has progressed a great deal since the emulators I first saw way back in early 2000.  The key takeaways from the session besides the technology aspects, were that, as always, need to get the requirements nailed down, and that the users may or may not be able to tell you exactly what they need to do with it.  Build it, and they might come is the message.  But they will be mobile.

Talk to you tomorrow.

If you are onsite, look me up.

By attending conferences like this, as well as many other events and trainings, we are equipped to help our clients develop robust IT Roadmaps.  Given the shear number of new SAP solutions that are now available, the fact that what worked yesterday may not work today, you might want to read our guide on developing a 5 Year IT Roadmap.
