Take the Google Ads ROI Quiz
Always be Testing Your Google Ads
All high performing Google Ads Campaigns come down to one simple fact - continuous improvement based on testing. if you want to improve your Google Ads ROI, not only do you need to create what Google considers a high-quality landing page, you also want to use multi-variate testing (means many different ad variations) to drive up your CTRs, and drive down your Google Ad Spend.
Content Marketing is a Key Competitive Differentiator
As a highly experienced, Hubspot Certified Inbound Marketer, who has used the Hubspot Ads Add-On in numerous high net profit Google ads campaigns, I cannot overemphasize the benefit of having a highly refined content plan. A successful advertising strategy relies on understanding your audience, providing them with useful content. Content marketing that brings in organic traffic also provides your social media marketing with content. When you use paid advertising, enriched by your Google Analytics data, you can see incredible results.
Identifying Your Target Audience
If you want to keep your advertising cost and overall ad spend to an absolute minimum, a key task (and this is far harder than it sounds) is to identify your target audience. If you're ads are shown to the wrong audience, you won't get the clicks you need to achieve the total sales you are looking to hit. It's just that simple. A successful Google Ad Campaign, aside from helping you achieve a positive ROI, also has added benefit of being able to provide the Google Ads AI with information about your actual customers after they convert.
Ensure Conversion Tracking is Setup Correctly
Of all the errors I find in accounts when I conduct a Google Adwords audit, this is probably singularly most expensive mistake I run across. Without it, you cannot actually provide feedback to the Google Adwords platform about which of your ads resulted in a sale or lead or whatever important activity you are willing to spend Google Ads money on to achieve.
GCLID and Conversion Tracking
If you have a Hubspot, Salesforce of SAP Hybris system, then, for the most part, you won't have many problems providing results back to the Google Adwords platform. However, the millions of websites out there that run on Wordpress and many other platforms, you will need to ensure something called the GCLID is working. It is simply a piece of code that gets attached to a click and tracks all the way through your system and back again to tell Google what worked.
Monitor Results Effectively
In order to ensure the absolute highest Return on Investment, you must use the free tools provided by Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Google Merchant Center, Google My Business and Google Tag Manager to track your results, all the way down to the Google Campaign and Ad Group Level.
