Job Summary

Implements global sourcing strategies and initiatives for non-metal category OR metal category as assigned. Non-metal categories includes ceramic, poly and packaging. Metals category includes titanium, cobalt chrome and stainless steel wrought bar, cobalt chrome ingot, forgings, castings and sheet. Ensures that the global strategies are executed at all sites. Accountable for developing, negotiating and implementing cost reductions. Develop and manage a business continuity plan that identifies, quantifies and reduces risk. Active and early involvement in new product development. Manage all key supplier relationships. Reports to Direct Material Category Sourcing Director.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Implements global commodity and supplier strategies to achieve challenging year-over-year cost reduction results through supplier collaboration, introduction of new processes and competition.


Forces early sourcing involvement in New Product Development

Works collaboratively with product development, research, marketing, regulatory, and other functions in developing global sourcing strategies for the assigned sub-category.

Creates global project plans, implementation strategy, and executes plans in coordination with all sites. Leads cross functional teams. 

Internal/External customer focus to address complex issues. Helps to develop strategy to improve processes, procedures and project flow in Sourcing.

Investigates and analyzes supplier’s financial condition, technical competence, facilities and production techniques to ensure adequate supplier capacity and capability.

Develops contingency plans for assigned commodities and/or strategic suppliers.

Develops ongoing negotiation strategies and managing against short- and long-term market forces which affects the department.
Applies financial analyses, commodity and currency hedging, and other techniques to minimize financial risks.

Expected Areas of Competence

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required.


Project management and teaming skills.


Significant knowledge and experience in world-class sourcing practices and techniques preferred
Change agent.

Education/Experience Requirements

BS in Business Administration or Engineering and minimum of 5 to 10 years of sourcing or engineering experience required.
MBA preferred.
C.P.M. is a plus.

Travel Requirements

Up to 20%
