Job Summary

Responsible for the design, development, and process of implants and instruments of a complex nature. Able to fill project leader role and take leadership on resolving the most complex engineering problems. Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills are essential. An understanding of human physiology and joint mechanics is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Leads the development of new products and manufacturing processes or serve as a key member on a project team

Directs the generation of prototype models to evaluate new design concepts

Generates a comprehensive protocol for testing/analyzing the product 

Generates design assurance documentation for the project 

Expected Areas of Competence

  •          Advanced knowledge of drafting standards and geometric differences and tolerancing
  •           Conducts development meetings with surgeons and key customer personnel
  •           Utilize leadership and motivational skills to expedite completion of critical project tasks with other functional groups 
  •          Complete knowledge of the new product development and regulatory process
  •           Ability to analyze and develop new testing criteria and requirements 
  •           Identify customer requirements for a new product
  •           Establishes a process method which meets performance and quality requirements 
  •           Demonstrated ability to lead and influence all parts of the organization
  •           Microsoft Office Suite and Project; Demonstrated ability to learn and apply multiple skill sets as outlined by the engineering review board (i.e. manufacturing, design, materials and testing)

Education/Experience Requirements

  •          B.S. in mechanical engineering required (M.S. in mechanical preferred) plus eight (8) or more years of experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
