First day on your new SAP BW job? Wondering where to start? Not really an expert on SAP ASAP? Maybe you don’t even have an ‘S’ number yet so you can download templates from SAP Service Marketplace. Want to shine, but need a light to see the end of the tunnel? Well, perhaps our SAP Business Intelligence Technical Specification template can help you little bit. In it, you will define:
If you don’t speak SAPanese, and instead, are expert in your business' specific language, such as the Airline Industry, or military logistics, just knowing the specific SAP Modules won’t really help you to translate what SAP modules provide which part of your solution. Why, because it is a vast, complex system.
Are your Inventory Accuracy Levels at 99% and rising? If you say yes, let me tell you about some swamp land in Florida I am selling. In the meantime, I recently had a chance to see how an online firm used Internet Marketing and Multi Channel Marketing to quickly build an online presence but have almost immediately ran in to the weaknesses inherent in having weak backend systems. These weaknesses are costing them money. Money that is literally flowing out the door.
When I was I Water Well Driller, we used an old cable tool rig, a Stone Model 31. , My morning routine started out with a grease gun in hand, and a crawl around and up and down the rig, finding the grease fittings, and pumping in grease until it would ooze out from underneath whatever I was lubing. There wasn’t any precise measurement, just an eyeball gauge. Why did I do it, every single day? Because time is money. If the rig broke down, then it wasn’t making a hole in the ground. No hole, no money. This was why we did daily, preventive maintenance, and not just the morning grease job. We also had to constantly put oil on the steel cable that held the 20 foot long, solid steel, drill stem. The Drill Stem rotated each time it was lifted off the ground to make yet another striking cut against the rock we were drilling through. We also learned to listen to the sounds the rig made, as it told us how it was feeling.
I recently interviewed Helen Ayers, a retired, national award winning newspaper editor, who retired from the The Brown County Democrat. I wanted to know how much advertising had changed, especially with today’s multi-channel advertising capabilities.
What makes it even more challenging to estimate a SAP BW Project is that there are now usually several other solutions that also need to be included in the estimation process. These may include, SAP Webi, HANA, Dashboard Builder, xCelsius, BOE for administration, and Crystal Reports. We provide a sophisticated SAP BW Project estimator that you can download here on the blog and in several places on our site. The estimator is meant to be used by a highly skilled SAP BW Consultant, as it requires thorough knowledge of SAP Business Content and SAP Business Processes.
Time for another fish tale. I swear this one is true (so you know it is). When I was growing up, I worked with my dad drilling water wells on an cable tool rig, and whenever we would happen to be drilling next to a fish’in hole, I would drop a line in the water. One day, I was using a purple artificial night crawler, which to a Big Mouth bass, must have been like catnip.
When I was kid, (A long time ago), I did a lot of fishing. One time, we were all fishing along a creek bank in Southern Indiana, and my cousin, Rachael May, who wasn’t catch’in much that day, said to her dad, “throw mine out where the big fish are”. That was not a bad idea!
No matter where you are at in your SAP journey, whether just thinking about SAP, in the pre-sales stage, the implementation stage, or the continuous business improvement stage, you probably don’t know all the different SAP modules. How could you? Unless you are a trained SAP consultant with years of experience, and have an inordinate amount of curiosity, it is unlikely you have knowledge of every SAP module.
