Within the past several years, the various places I have worked include the travel, advertising, publishing, and not-for-profit healthcare industries. All of them relied heavily on promotion marketing but in different ways. The travel agency held many contests to promote budget tours worldwide. The non-profit hosted fundraisers where many businesses would promote their products with free sampling. Of course, the advertising agency I worked for dabbled in all sorts of promotion marketing, which included direct mailers and point-of-purchase displays. All of them participated in promotional item giveaways such as pens, T-shirts, and other items.

One of my favorite television shows of the moment, Downton Abbey, has started its third season. I first heard of this British TV series, set in the early-20th century, through several postings on Facebook, which I quickly disregarded. Soon after, I was bombarded with enthusiastic friends and co-workers telling me that I “have to” watch this new show and I can watch it on Netflix too! So there began my love affair with Downton Abbey along with the rest of the world. Fans can watch past seasons on membership sites Netflix , HuluPlus, and Amazon Prime. For the current season, fans can view new episodes for a limited time for free on the PBS website, which is Downton Abbey’s home network. Let’s not forget about iTunes. Since the show airs in the UK earlier than in other places, iTunes has been able to offer fans to buy episodes of Season 3 prior to the on air date in the US. Viewers have a minimum of five ways to watch the show at their own leisure and through their preferred online viewing site. Allowing the viewer multiple options has enabled viewership to soar as well as allowing PBS to undoubtedly flourish along with the show.
It was just announced that Starbucks is the Mobile Marketer of the Year for 2012 for its ongoing successful mobile marketing strategy. Among the various mobile channels Starbucks has been utilizing, SMS marketing has proven that building on the one-on-one customer relationship not only increases consumer spending but also drives customer loyalty to the brand. Here are some fantastic examples of how well known corporations are using innovative ways to promote their products and brands:
Right before our very eyes you can see the shift of every marketer’s message as the seasons change. One day we are persuaded to go overboard with the splurges of gift giving for the holidays, and the next day we are encouraged to save our money and not spend so much for the New Year. As I review my credit card bills, I ask myself “How in the world did I end up spending so much?” However, I do know the answer to this rhetorical question.
Have you ever wondered what a Real Time system actually means. We were discussion this topic this week as it relates to SAP BW. Sometimes our customers want and expect SAP BW data to be presented to them in "Real Time". The question is, what exactly does real time mean. Well, we happen to have a deep pool of experts with expertise and experience in developing real-time embedded systems for automotive and aerospace application control systems. Within this environment, a typical real-time scenario involves reading an electrical square wave generated by a crank or cam sensor as the crank or cam gear rotates past the sensor while an engine is operating. There are many configurations and variants in this application. The question we want to answer is “How fast is real-time in this environment”?
It’s tough out there. Fukishima is leaking, the fish are glowing (see below). The Euro is deflating like a popped balloon. The banks are broke, and the financial crisis just rolls on and on. Retail sales are down, in Spain, for the past 22 months in a row. Sounds pretty grim.
Want to utilize a multi channel marketing system. What is a Multi Channel System? Why would you want to use one? How would you best use multi platform marketing system?
Did you know youtube has served 1,000,000,000,000 (One Trillion) videos? Or that hundreds of millions of people already engage with brands on social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. SAP is shooting to have 1,000,000,000 (One Billion) customers. Big numbers, but how do you use them? One of the key ways is with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) coupled with high performance analytics based on SAP BW.
